Hi, In today’s video I want to talk about how to see if your blog or website has been indexed by Google.
It’s extremely easy to check this by entering a simple command in your Google search box.
In the video below we have used www.GaryGraye.com as the example to see if my new blog is indexed.
Although I have had the domain for a year or so, I have not done anything with it until May 11th 2009. That’s when I started to add content to the site.
Over the next weeks and months we will be able to track the progress of GaryGraye.com to see how well it ranks for particular keyword phrases.
The blog is all about showing how you the therapist can achieve excellent search engine rankings in a relatively short period of time using the tips and tools that you’ll learn along the way.
Now back to the video.
In the video you will see how we can see if a site is indexed in Google by entering “site:” in front of a domain name. i.e. if we typed “site:garygraye.com” (without the quote marks) into the Google search box then all the pages that were indexed for that site would appear in the results.
On the right hand side of the screen (assuming that the site entered was indexed) you would see the total number of pages indexed.
If you enter your domain name and nothing appears in the results then it’s fair to say that your blog / website is not indexed.
How you then get your site indexed by Google will be covered in a later video.
At the time of writing this post ( May 19th 2009) there are 9 pages from GaryGraye.com that Google has indexed.
As we publish more blog posts and pages that number will increase.
